Hundreds of thousands of children across the world lose their mother to AIDS, or is the primary caregiver for their family do to their mother living with HIV. The Somwa Foundation primary focus is to act as a breath of fresh air for the entire family. If we do not take care of HIV positive women children, the system will.

 

Message from the Founder

At the age of 23 I lost my mother to AIDS. I did not want my siblings to become AIDS orphans so over night I became their guardian. I realized that I needed to make a difference in their lives. My mother always told me if she ever left this world she wanted her children taken care of. Every young adult/child who has a mother living with HIV needs to know that they are not alone. Many young adults/children turn to the streets for support, but with the help of Somwa our children will become mentally stronger to deal with the challenges at home. - Shacazia L.
